WatERP Presentation in Leipzig


Last 16th of June 2014, Tobias Martin (from DVGW) presented the WatERP Project to twelve water utilities across Germany (Berlin, Hamburg, Oldenburg, Düsseldorf, Weimar and Leipzig among others). During this meeting, the WatERP Dissemination Poster was exposed.

Hydrology DWG Technical Committee Meeting


Last June, 11th, it took place in Genova (Italy) a Technical Committee Meeting of the OGC (Open Geospatial Consortium, Inc.) held by the Hydrology Domain Working Group.

During the meeting, our colleague Andreas Abecker, from Disy, had the opportunity of presenting WatERP’s objectives, activities and progress so far, in a 10-15 minutes slot.  After this presentation, there was a brief session of questions/answers with the assistants (among them representatives from GRDC and the German Federal Institute of Hydrology (BfG).

In general, the acceptance from the assistants was really positive and demonstrated great interest for the activities carried out in the framework of the project.

WatERP Project presentation


Due to a project meeting on 5th June 2014, Andreas Korth (from DVGW) presented the WatERP Project to the Stadtwerke Hannover (water supplier of Hannover) with the help of the WatERP Dissemination Poster.

During the working session with the water suppliers, relevant WatERP project information was exposed together with the progress and outcome so far.

WatERP project offers its platform to improve the British water management and distribution system

The WatERP European R&D project, led by the R&D Food and Environment area of Barcelona Digital technology Centre, organised on April 9 a Stakeholders Event at the Staffordshire University (UK) with British stakeholders of the water management sector to consider future collaboration and improve the efficiency of the British water management and distribution system.

World's Water Situation


The European Commission has recently published through one of its playlist in the Innovation Union Channel a video produced by BDigital linked to the field of research of WatERP project.

In this video, Ferran Tersa explains the views on the major challenges of today’s World’s Water situation and gives the keys to overcome the vulnerabilities associated to the global water system.

WatERP’s progress presented in Finland


Last March, one of WatERP partners (INCLAM) hold meetings with relevant stakeholders in Finland. During the meetings, the stakeholders received detailed information about WatERP: technology used, the problems addressed by the project, the actual status of implementation and results so far, and the future work towards the consecution of WatERP objectives.

Here below, you will find more information about the stakeholders that got in contact with WatERP project:

  • Geological Survey of Finland, represented by Petri Lintinen, is a European Center of Excellence in assessment, research and sustainable use of Earth resources.  Its mission is to produce and disseminate geological information for industry and society.
  • Finish Meteorological Institute, represented by Antti Hyvärinen, is a research and service agency under the Ministry of Transport and Communications. Its main objective is to provide the best possible information about the atmosphere above and around Finland in order to ensure public safety.
  • Finnish Environment Institute, Freshwater center (SYKE), represented by Timo Huttula, Mikko Huokuna, Mika Marttunen and Markus Huttunen, supports water protection and water resources management by multidisciplinary research, by collecting information and by developing assessment tools and sustainable solutions to issues of water supply, wastewater treatment especially in scarcely populated areas, hydraulic construction, and utilization of water resources.

British Water and WatERP meeting


As a result of the networking carried out during the project meeting in Stafford at the begining of April, last Wednesday, British Water and ACA hold a meeting in Barcelona.

During the meeting, WatERP's Water Authorities experiences and new innovation opportunities were shared between the assistants.

Confederación Hidrográfica del Ebro


Following the stakeholders contact roadmap, on February 19th, WATERP held a workday at the Ebro Hydrographic Confederation (CHEbro)

During the meeting,  WatERP principles, findings and outcomes were discussed, in addition to their potential application in new domains. This event brought about important experiences related to the basin management, barriers that might be encountered, and future plans for other problematic. As an example, flood management and risk assessment were evaluated as possible extension for the Open Management Platform developed in the project. 

Like the other workshops held till now, it was a highly successful workshop which yielded some vital information to aid WatERP going forward.
