WaterIdeas 2014

Last 22nd-24th October, it took place in Bologna (Italy) the WaterIdeas Conference 2014. It was intended to present and discuss the latest developments, strategies, techniques and applications of international best practices in Innovative Water Networks Management. It addressed different issues and appealed to a different audience, consisting mostly by water utilities and water industry companies and professionals. It was an audience of stakeholders, end-users and potential collaborators in partnership building for potential market/commercial exploitation of the outcomes of the project.In the framework of this conference, WatERP took part in several sessions.

Dissemination paper: ICCS


One of the WatERP partners (ICCS) has presented in Skiathos Island (Greece) a paper during the 12th International Conference on Protection and Restoration of the Environment (PRE12). The paper, entitled A water demand forecasting methodology for supporting day-to-day management of water distribution systems can be consulted on the following link.

ICT4Water cluster newsletter


Last October, the first issue of the ICT4Water newsletter was published. This first issue mentions all the projects belonging to this important water cluster and WatERP project is mentioned on the document as it belongs to it. You can consult the document on the following link.

WatERP at the EnviroInfo 2014


In September 2014, the 28th International Conference on Informatics for Environmental Protection (EnviroInfo-2014) took place in Oldenburg (Germany). In this event which attracts presenters and audience from academia, business and public administrations, WatERP was in the programme with Andreas Abecker's talk "A Sensor and Semantic Data Warehouse for Integrated Water Resource Management" which presented a joint paper of DISY and ICCS about the principles of the WatERP Water Data Warehouse.

WatERP at the AGIT-2014


During AGIT-2014 in Salzburg (Austria), the 26th International Symposium and Exhibition on Applied Geoinformatics, DISY presented the work on the WatERP Water Data Warehouse to an international audience dealing with hydroinformatics and sensor systems for water management. Overall, AGIT-2014 attracted about 1100 visitors from over 40 countries. 

Effinet workshop


Last September 30th, Effinet held in Barcelona a workshop organized by Aqualogy and Cetaqua. This event was attended by 70 professionals in the Water sector.  The main goal of the workshop was to present Effinet project demonstrating the novel research and developments achieved up to date. In addition, an open discussion centered on the ICT4Water cluster took place with representatives of UrbanWater, IceWater and WatERP projects and representatives from the water sector such as Francisco Cubillo (Canal Isabel II, Madrid) and Prof. Avi Ostfeld (Technion, Israel).

Networking session


WatERP belongs to a cluster formed by ten projects funded under the same ICT call of the FP7 related to water management. Last October 1st, three of those projects, coordinated by entities located in Barcelona, held a meeting in order to share experiences as regards Decision Support Systems (DSS).

WatERP presentation


Tobias Martin and Andreas Korth, from TZW,  held a presentation about energy efficiency and demand forecasting at the Fernwasserversorgung Elbaue-Ostharz (long-distance water supply for Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thüringen) and discussed about issues and future use of functionalities of the system.
